Personal data and AI: what Bridge Agent sends — and what it keeps private
An AI agent may need to handle requests containing customer data. Discover how Bridge Agent’s Privacy mode minimises the information sent to third-party services with Agent Guard.

Personal data and AI: what Bridge Agent sends — and what it keeps private
When a professional delegates work to an AI agent, requests are rarely abstract. They mention customers, appointments, quotes or jobs. They can therefore include a name, phone number, address, order number or, depending on the trade, even more sensitive information.
The goal is not to avoid all automation. It is to avoid sending more information than is needed to complete a task.
At Bridge Agent, this is the role of Privacy mode and our Agent Guard: analyse requests locally, remove or replace sensitive data before any call to a third-party service, then reinject it locally into the final response when needed.
Why an agent request can contain personal data
Consider a perfectly ordinary request:
“Prepare a response for Ms Martin, on 06 12 34 56 78, about her appointment at 14 rue des Tilleuls tomorrow at 10am.”
For a tradesperson, shop or service professional, this is normal. They need to identify the customer, understand the context and organise the requested action.
But an external AI does not necessarily need Ms Martin’s identity, phone number or address to help draft a response, summarise an exchange or prepare an action. This information should remain where it is useful: in the professional’s tools, not unnecessarily spread across services.
Agent Guard: a local step before any third-party service
Before a request is sent to a model or third-party service, Agent Guard can intervene locally. It reviews the request, identifies the data to protect and replaces values with neutral placeholders.
The previous example can become:
“Prepare a response for [CUSTOMER_1], on [PHONE_1], about their appointment at [ADDRESS_1] tomorrow at 10am.”
The third-party service only receives this minimised version. It can help produce the expected wording, reasoning or structure without receiving the original identifying data.
The link between “[CUSTOMER_1]” and the real customer remains local. When the response returns, Agent Guard restores the right values before the professional or automation uses it.
How it works in three steps
- Local pre-analysis: Agent Guard detects information to hide or pseudonymise before sending.
- Minimised processing: the third-party service receives only the context needed for the task, using neutral placeholders instead of identifying data.
- Local reinjection: the response is completed locally with the original data, only when the action requires it.
This separation prevents a name, address or phone number from becoming routine context for every connected service.
What Privacy mode means
Privacy mode is designed for businesses that regularly handle customer information and want to strictly limit data sent outside their environment.
When it is enabled, the rule is simple: detected sensitive data is handled locally before any transmission to a third-party service. The service only works with what is necessary, not with the full identity of the people involved.
It is especially relevant for tradespeople who receive contact details and job addresses, shops managing orders and bookings, service professionals handling confidential information, and teams who want to use AI without making personal-data sharing routine.
Prefer local processing whenever possible
Protecting data is not only about anonymising a request. The best data to protect is often the data that does not need to be sent at all.
Bridge Agent therefore prioritises skills and local automations whenever they are enough: sorting requests, applying a rule, extracting structured information, triggering a reminder, preparing a summary or updating a schedule.
A third-party service is only called when it adds real value — for example, to understand a nuanced request, draft a suitable message or transform a complex instruction. Agent Guard again minimises the context that is sent.
Technical protection is not a magic promise
Privacy mode significantly reduces data exposure, but it does not replace careful configuration or each business’s own obligations. The data to protect, connected tools and authorised actions must be defined with the professional from the start.
Confidentiality is not a checkbox. It relies on an architecture: minimise collected data, process locally whenever possible, control access and share only what a third party truly needs.
AI that respects your business context
An AI agent should save you time without asking you to give up control of customer information. That is why Bridge Agent does not simply forward every message to an external service: Agent Guard filters, Privacy mode governs the flow, and local automations take over whenever possible.
You keep the business context. Your agent handles the rest, with one simple rule: use data when it is needed, and do not expose it when it is not.
